Boat company, Zin Boats, is working on an electric boat that “will beat all the rest — in speed, power, range and more,” according to the company based in Seattle.
Other reports on the boat state that it has many advances in technology, like an electric joystick used for steering and the boat being able to have its own custom controls to fit the customers’ wants.
Zin Boats is trying to achieve world record status with the Z11, 2000 peak horsepower and fastest of its kind with over 60 miles per hour.
The company makes it clear that the Z11 is not cheap and comes with a hefty price tag. The different models of the boat will cost over one to three million dollars. However the founder of the company, Piotr Zin, says that he is trying to create a tender boat that is less than $200,000.
WJPS 12th grader, Marissa Salerno said, “What if it catches on fire? My two million dollars can go to something else, not that.”
WJPS guidance counselor Mr. Lumetta said, “I think that would be a great idea. I think it will be a lot better for the environment, the on-water charging stations for the boats are very safe. I think it’s the way of the future.”
