On August 9th, directed by Justin Baldoni, “It Ends With Us” premiered in theaters. This film is a book adaptation starring actors; Blake Lively, Jenny Slate and Justin Baldoni himself.
As of now, it has a 57% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.7/10 on IMDb. Despite its criticism from social media, the movie made $303 million in the box office and had a budget of $25 million.
The promotion of the movie includes advertisements, paints the work as a love story and provides a portrayal of domestic abuse in real life relationships.
WJPS 12th grader Haylie Soto, said, “I think the movie was okay, but it’s missing a lot of details and plot points that the book had. “
WJPS 12th grader Aisha Ismail said “I think the book was good and in depth in terms of the topic of domestic violence, even if I have conflicting opinions about the author. The movie was alright, but it didn’t go as in depth as the book. Which I understand because there isn’t as much you can do in a movie compared to a novel.“
