DreamWorks has announced that Shrek 5 is in progress. The movie will be released on July 1, 2026.
The cast has Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz returning. The movie will be directed by Walt Dohrn, who was the writer and artist on Shrek 2 and 3.
Walt Dohrn also voiced Rumpelstiltskin on Shrek forever after. Shrek 5 will be produced by the franchise returner Gina Shay and illumination founder Chris Meledandri. Brad Ableson will work as co-director.
Murphy had already begun the voice recording for the film. They started doing this project months ago.

WJPS 12th grader Lilah Freeman said, “It will be a good movie that anybody can watch because it is a 24 year old series since the first one came out. People can go watch the new movie and bring them nostalgia and the new generation can also enjoy it.”
