A live action adaptation of the Tony award-winning musical, Wicked is coming to the big screen on November 22th. The movie is said to be two parts and the second part is expected to be released the following year. Wicked, the movie is going to be a musical fantasy, just as how it is depicted in the musical.
It will star both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as main characters Elphaba and Glinda. Grande is known for her work on Nickelodeon and for her Grammy winning music. Erivo is also known for her work from the movies Harriet and Bad Times at the El Royale.
The movie musical is about the Wizard of Oz. Before Dorothy came, the two witches used to be best friends and they became the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
WJPS 11th Grader Hailey Bahr stated, “I’m looking forward to watching the movie. I’d like to see how much they could do with production since it’s an actual movie now and not just on Broadway.”
WJPS 11th Grader Daniella Torres stated, “I’m really excited to see the movie, the trailers look great and the cast is amazing.”
