WJPS students wearing airpods during the school day has become an issue. For example, some students wear them throughout the day because it just feels “comfortable.” 

The moment you walk into a WJPS classroom many teachers will tell you to “phones away and take your airpods out of your ears” and for some kids it is in through one ear and out the other. 

We know that students have been enjoying listening to music through earphones for a long time starting with the original beats, but now Apple’s airpods seem to be more convenient for students to listen to music. 

WJPS 11th grader Claudia Lopez stated, “As one of the students that wears airpods a lot during school hours I can agree that sometimes it can be hard to focus.”

WJPS 11th grader Emma Oliveras stated, “AirPods are a very convenient earphone, but sometimes it’s better to not use it during school.” 

A great solution would be to help the students understand that wearing your Airpods during the school day can be very disruptive to you, your classmates, and your ability to learn.
