The World Cup is an international soccer/football event held every four years, and this will be the 23rd time. It will be co-hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States in 2026. It will also be the first time in the history of the World Cup that the three countries will jointly host it.
Mexico City will host the opening game of the 26th World Cup on June 11th, 2026, and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will host the World Cup final on July 19th, 2026.
Starting from this upcoming World Cup, the number of participating teams in the World Cup will be expanded from 32 to 48. The participating teams will play a total of 104 games in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and the entire event will last 40 days.
WJPS 12th grader, William He said, “I understand that the World Cup finals will be held in New Jersey, so if I have the opportunity in 2026, I hope I can go there to watch it.”
WJPS 11th grader, Hui Zhang said, “I’m looking forward to the World Cup, it will be the biggest football gathering.”
