While considering which college or university high schoolers would want to attend, the acceptance rate is something some students think about.
The acceptance rate of a certain college shows the percentage of students that the school admits to the actual number of applicants who signed up. Acceptance rates are found by dividing the number of the students who got accepted by the total number of students who applied.
Universities with smaller acceptance rates are usually more selective and have higher standards compared to most schools. They tend to be more competitive in student admission processes.
Some schools with low acceptance rates are: Harvard University and The California Institute of Technology with three percent. There are also low rates at Columbia University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University with four percent.
WJPS 11th grader Aisha Ismail shared her opinion on the topic. “Personally, I would want to attend CUNY, so that I could stay in the city and possibly commute. Baruch would be a good option, but it’s competitive. “
WJPS 11th grader Erica Lin said, “Getting into an Ivy League school sounds almost impossible, so I’d like to enter CUNY. “
