In a world with much political discussion on humanitarian concerns, the topic of abortion remains as a prime controversy that follows female empowerment. Rather than fixating on what is assumed the sanctity of life, we should call to recognize and respect a woman’s autonomy over her own body.
Upholding the right of choosing an abortion is essential for ensuring women’s health, their well-being, and preserving the basic right to make decisions about one’s life.
Restricting access to safe and legal abortion not only endangers women’s lives but perpetuates systemic inequality. Denying women the right to choose forces them into dangerous alternatives, reinforcing a cycle of limited opportunities.
Granting the ability to decide when and if to become a parent is a vital choice regarding women’s rights. When free from the limitations of unplanned childbirth, women can take on educational, personal, or career oriented goals.
WJPS 12th grader, Riley Ramnath said, “The government shouldn’t decide what a girl does with her body.”
WJPS 12th grader, Lesly Gonzalez said, “Females have the right to choose if they become a mom.”
Advocating for abortion is not an endorsement of neglect, selfishness, or irresponsibility; rather, it’s a commitment of upholding a basic human right. It’s about supporting empowered women who can contribute meaningfully to society.
Overall, the need to form a world where women’s choices are treated as fundamental, access to safe abortion being a non-negotiable component of reproductive rights, and where every woman can make their own destiny. When doing so, we collectively reinstate our dedication to a society that recognizes and respects the inherent dignity and autonomy of all individuals.
