Students should be able to use the bathroom when they need to. The bathroom shouldn’t be closed, especially in case a student is having an emergency.
Teachers should gain more trust in students and if it seems to become a pattern with the same student going to the bathroom every time then they could have someone walk with them to the bathroom.
Teachers should not be able to say no if the student has to use the bathroom. Also, they should not ask students why they have to go to the bathroom as it’s the students’ personal business.
WJPS assistant principal Mr. Yarmy said, “We would never keep a student from using the bathroom if it is an emergency, but students usually get out of class by going to the bathroom last period and just stay there and it was starting to become a pattern.”
WJPS 9th grader Lambreeni Dzelves said, “I think we should be able to use the bathroom last period because people might have to use it during lunch and it’s not right to not allow people to go when they really have to use it.”
