The New York Jets defeated the New York Giants 13-10, in an entertaining overtime last week. The game itself was very sloppy for both teams, leaving them with a lot to reflect on.
Over the entire history of this rivalry, the Giants have beaten the Jets eight times, and the Jets have beaten them seven times. Despite these two teams meeting on a total of 15 occasions, the rivalry is still intriguing as they are both from the same city and share the same stadium, MetLife Stadium.
The Jets have not had the worst start to the season, currently being at 4-3. The same cannot be said for the Giants, who are at 2-6 going into their bye week.
Both of these teams are riddled with injuries following this game. The Jets lost several key offensive and defensive linemen, and the Giants lost their backup quarterback who was replacing the injured starting quarterback, Daniel Jones.
Despite the underwhelming performance for the majority of the game, the young Jets quarterback, Zach Wilson, knew when to step up, putting the team into a position to win when it mattered most.
While the Jets push to make their first playoff appearance in over 13 years, the Giants season might already be over.
WJPS senior, Cameron Henrich said, ¨I don’t like the Giants. Disgrace to New York.”
WJPS senior, Alejandro Ortiz said, “If you say the Giants are better, just remember they lost 40-0 against the Cowboys this year.”
