A new teacher, Ms. Cotto recently joined the WJPS community this year and teaches middle school and 9th grade Spanish.
She was previously a teacher in four other schools, one of which was Stevenson High School, which was her alma mater. She is of Puerto Rican descent and is originally from the Bronx.
She came to WJPS to expand her horizons of teaching. Señora Cotto needed a transition in her teaching career as she felt her last school wasn’t the best fit. She wanted to be able to share her knowledge of teaching with other teachers.
Señora Cotta said, “I enjoy this school, it is very welcoming and very different as well as diverse. WJPS has a positive environment where students are eager to learn. I’m very excited to be teaching here.”
WJPS senior, Abihail Luque stated, “She’s nice and seems like a great teacher.”
Another WJPS senior, Valentina Londono said “She’s a great fit for our school, all students are expressing a positive reaction to her.”
Other interests Ms. Cotto has outside of teaching are riding motorcycles, reading books, and spending a lot of time with her family.
