A.I. Music

A.I.+Music

The last time Frank Ocean had released an album was in 2016, with only eight songs released between then and now.

Artificially generated Frank Ocean music had been passed off as legitimate unreleased songs, generated by artificial intelligence, and have been sold to his fans costing them thousands.

Through A.I. applications such as “Lovo AI”, “Murf AI,” and “Play.ht”, a swindler created and sold nine Frank Ocean tracks.

The scammer collected nearly 10 thousand dollars before getting caught for selling fakes.

This had been done through the messenger application “Discord.”

Due to A.I. technology’s ease of access to the public being a new thing, there are no laws relating directed towards A.I. Because of this new discovery, the scammer was only charged for fraud.

WJPS senior, Kevin Juarez, commented, “It’s pretty scary knowing how easy it is to do and get away with fraudulent activity regarding A.I. music as it’s difficult to differentiate. I think this will affect the music industry negatively. Not only this can also affect other industries such as acting and art.”

WJPS teacher, Ms. Shields, stated, “Educating people on how to differentiate between real and fake is super important. Nearly anyone can try to replicate this with tutorials and because of that, we need to spread awareness and educate more people.”
