WJPS will be hosting a charity walk-a-thon to raise awareness for epilepsy.
WJPS ninth grader Markella Georgiou created the idea. “We got in contact with hire for cause to support an underfunded charity. It’s a lot of responsibility for someone as young as myself, but I am certain I can handle it.”
Students can donate by scanning the QR code on the posters in the hallways. If a student donates $15, they will receive a T-shirt, a spot in the walk-a-thon, and a free Italian ice from Ralph’s.
Anyone participating will be leaving during school hours and walking a mile to Bowne Park.
WJPS principal, Dr. Werner, stated “The students are running this and I know they will do a good job. This is a good way to show the students how to have some responsibility and teach them about current issues with the world.”
Anyone is eligible to participate and the event will take place on May 26th.
