The debate on who is the greatest basketball player of all time(G.O.A.T) could be decided on several accomplishments.
Boston Celtics’ legend Bill Russell was a dominant and game changing force in the NBA since he was drafted. Russell changed the expectations of skill level in the league from 1956-1969. He won 11 championship rings with the Celtics over his 13 year career.
WJPS teacher Ms. Foley stated, ”Bill Russell is the basketball G.O.A.T because of how many times he’s won the championship, no one comes close to him.”
Lebron James is the all-time leading scorer in the NBA with 38,390 points. He has four championship rings and a legacy on several teams.
WJPS teacher Ms. Ciccilini said that, “Lebron James is the greatest player because he’s scored the most points.”
Michael Jordan had the ability to elevate his teammates to a different level. His sheer determination and motivation to be the greatest player ever is the exact reason why he is a five-time MVP, six-time NBA Finals MVP, 14-time All-Star and a six-time NBA champion.
Mr. Johnson, WJPS teacher said that, “Michael Jordan is the greatest player, no player today would be so good if Michael Jordan didn’t exist.”
Kobe Bryant is an honorable mention as he had the mentality of I am the greatest of all time. This is possibly true, but his achievements don’t back it up as much as those of other players.
