The ice skating trip planned by the student government is canceled. The 11th graders were scheduled to go on an ice skating trip on February 10th at the World Ice Arena.
It was reported by the school administration that a big portion of the ice skating trip money had gone missing. An investigation was underway as interviews were being conducted and cameras were being checked.
WJPS has since refunded the students who initially paid 15 dollars for the trip using school funds.
WJPS assistant principal Mr. Yarmy said, “It’s very damaging to our school community. It’s like the first time I’ve ever heard of anything like this. This is really too bad and I hope we can come together and figure out what happened.”
WJPS principal Dr. Werner said, “It makes me sad to say the least that somebody invaded somebody else’s private space and took money that was really for a community event. I like to think of WJPS as a place of trust. I like to think of WJPS as a place where people don’t have to worry about locking doors, so that incident made me realize that we do need to be careful.”
