Sledding through the Snow

Sledding through the Snow

Snowboarding is a sport that uses a snowboard as a tool to quickly turn and descend on a prescribed hillside route, or take off on a slope in a special “U”-shaped field, and complete various difficult movements in the air.

Snowboarding originated in Michigan, USA in the 1960s. Since 1998, snowboarding alpine giant slalom and “U”-shaped fields have become official competitions.

There are various types of tricks a snowboarder can perform such as jibbing, freeriding, freestyle, Alpine snowboarding, slopestyle, big air, half-pipe, snowboarding cross, and snowboarding racing.

WJPS sophomore, Hui Zhang said, “I think snowboarding is a very interesting sport, if I have the chance I will try this sport.”

WJPS junior, Johan Lee said, “I think snowboarding is pretty cool. I did snowboarding a lot with my dad when I was younger but stopped for a couple years. Snowboarding in my opinion is better than skiing since you can do cool tricks on it.”
