Starting in 2020, senior graduation at WJPS has been held outside due to COVID-19 for social distancing reasons and to avoid being in an enclosed space to prevent the spread of the virus. However, the class of 2022 will be holding an indoor graduation.
WJPS senior Stefany Lin stated, “I personally don’t like the idea of graduation being indoors this year at all. We have a big yard outside so why wouldn’t we use it to our advantage? When you’re outside, you have the lighting and the breeze and when you’re indoors it’s congested and the lights are dim.”
WJPS dean Ms. McCloskey commented, “I am happy that we are returning to our traditional graduation venue. It is easier to see the ceremony and the graduates receiving their diplomas on stage in the auditorium with the stadium seating. I also think it is easier to hear without outside noise, and the acoustics are much better in the auditorium.”
Senior graduation will be taking place on June 24th at 9am, in the school auditorium.
