Advanced Placement (AP) exams are quickly approaching, starting May 2nd. AP teachers are preparing to finish up units and reviews.
However, a recent conflict for the senior class has been interfering with preparation. The senior trip to Villa Roma Resort in the Catskills is booked for April 26th through April 28th, the week before the exams.
This has led to a change in plans for specific teachers, as this crucial time was planned to provide last-minute practice, tips, and other helpful information for the exams.
The trip’s timing poses a significant conflict, especially when some students were looking forward to this chance to relax. Now, they have to worry about these exams plaguing their minds while trying to have fun.
WJPS AP Macroeconomics teacher Mr. Mengani said, “I am very happy that the seniors are able to have a trip this year. However, the senior trip should not have been planned for that week. It should’ve been planned for after AP exams.”
Ms. Marks, WJPS AP English teacher, said, “It’s crunch time right before the exam, it’s time for us to review, and there’s a lot to cover of the curriculum. There’s a break right before, and the timing of the trip hurts the momentum going into the exam.”
A better plan for the senior trip would’ve been to have it take place after exams were finished, even if it was only one week after. Then, students could have fully enjoyed themselves and celebrated getting through this tough time.
