Every year students take the pacer test in physical education class to estimate how active they have been.
The pacer test is a multi-stage examination that measures an athlete’s acrobatic ability depending on the amount of laps that is done.
Ever since students have started their first year back from remote learning, there has not been an announcement about students taking the pacer test.
WJPS physical education teacher Mr. Maroney stated, “Due to the pandemic they are not mandating it this year.”
Maroney also said that “the pacer test will continue next year and I think they will bring back more tests too.”
Justin Rivera, a junior at WJPS said, “It’s a worthless test that tests the physical aptitude of students who aren’t motivated to do well on it.”
Andrea Nunez, another fellow WJPS junior stated, “I think it’s good that we don’t have it this year because it generalizes kids’ abilities to do well in sports.”
