When parent-teacher conferences approach, some students are worried about their parents’ reaction to their grades.
It may not be as helpful as teachers or parents think it is. This event adds more pressure on the students as it makes them anxious on how to approach their teachers and parents about their grades.
Not only can it be hard for students to have their parents worry about grades and handling assignments, but students also get discouraged by their bad grades.
Maria Sojos, a WJPS junior said “No, I don’t think it is. It adds more stress on my shoulders and they just add more pressure on me to finish my work.“
Madison Oliphant, a senior at WJPS stated “I believe to a certain extent, those who are passing without any complaints of parents having to travel to the school should be optional.”
It would be best if teachers have a sit and talk with the students first about their grades before talking to their parents.
