This special announcement to all grades for an art contest from The Water Resources Art & Poetry Contest by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. This contest is versatile, meaning students can submit various creative work, including drawings, photography, a video of music/ dance, a public service announcement and much more.
All grades (6-12) can participate, from singing to sketching, whatever talent you may have. Any talent option is welcome. Usually, only Green Team members can submit their art pieces, but it will be open to the entire school this time.
Green team facilitator Ms. Bassell said, “I think the contest is an excellent way to get students involved in the most important resources that will sustain them throughout their life. Humanity cannot exist without water. Humanity cannot exist without clean water to consume.”
Middle school green team member WJPS sixth grader Yunna Dulaimi said, “I originally did a song, but I don’t want to put that in, so I did a digital collage. I felt good spreading awareness and spreading awareness of being green.”
WJPS junior and member of the green team, Ishal Ahmad, “I did a painting based on global warming. It’s basically how global warming will in a few years cause glaciers to melt and flooding in many different areas and take over certain areas with water.”
For further information, you can contact Mrs. Bassell by emailing her at [email protected] or locating her in the guidance suite room 326.
