Walmart, a multinational retail store with over 12,000 locations, has recently launched its artificially intelligent virtual clothing try-on software, Zeekit, on their website.
Walmart bought Zeekit back in May of 2021, re-launching it officially in the beginning of March 2022.
Zeekit is a company which uses simulation technology to change the body dimensions, size, and fit of clothing on one of the 50 models available that mostly closely resembles your own physical appearance, allowing you to apply and virtually “try on” different articles of clothing.
There is a current focus on Zeekit mostly containing female models and items from women’s clothing brands like Free Assembly, Sofia Jeans, and Athletic Works.
It has been expanding with male models and by working with many other brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, and Levi’s, integrating both men and women’s clothing into their website.
WJPS math teacher Ms. Seidman stated, “It’s helpful. It’s very time efficient instead of going to the mall or store you could go to the Walmart app and save yourself the time.”
WJPS Fashion Club member Thekli Chronos stated, “I wouldn’t use it, people should just go to the store to try and buy clothing, the feeling is an important factor when buying clothing.”
