Nvidia Info Stolen

Nvidia+Info+Stolen

Nvidia has announced that a hacker group took their proprietary information last month. The hacker group Lapsus$ has stated that they have stolen one terabyte of data, including 250 gigabytes of hardware information that includes all Nvidia GPUs released to date and employee information.

Lapsus$ is demanding Nvidia make their drivers open-sourced and remove the lite hash rate, whose purpose is to limit mining on a GPU, or they would release all information about their future projects and other data on Friday.

As of Thursday, Lapsus$ has delayed the release of the stolen information due to negotiations with a buyer. The Lapsus$ group has also suffered an attack, claiming that Nvidia was the one who hacked them. Nvidia has not confirmed if they did hack the group.

Brenneis Nesbitt, a senior at WJPS, said, ”I think this is a dangerous thing, since this is something that affects everyone around the world, people all over could’ve had their data stolen as well.”

Leon Pantoja, a senior at WJPS, said, “I don’t think it will change what new products they release later on. However, they really need to improve their security.”
