The start of the new year began with Covid cases throughout professional sports leagues.
The NBA isn’t mandating the vaccine, but players that haven’t got the vaccine will need to follow the guidelines very strictly, which includes not playing road games in many cities. The NBA has 97% of their players vaccinated.
The NFL is also facing cases of COVID. Even though the vaccine is not mandated, the NFL is being very strict on the guidelines it has. Some players have been violating the policies and have been reprimanded.
WJPS senior Russell Guerra said, “I think that a vaccine mandate would make sense. There are a lot of cases, and players are out for a while because they keep testing positive, and many have gotten sick. A lot of them have also had lasting effects from COVID that could affect them while playing.”
WJPS senior Yarelly Ramirez said, “I think the COVID outbreaks show how bad the new variant is and how there should be more precautions taking place.”
