Many parents have been concerned about the lack of parental controls on the popular social media platform Instagram. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, stated in a blog post that he would implement parental controls by March 2022.
Mr. Gardner, a mathematics teacher at WJPS, said, “Personally, I wouldn’t use the parental control features for my own child.”
With this new implementation, parents will see how long their teenage child has been using Instagram and limit the time spent on the app.
Mosseri explained that this is only the first version of a parental tool, and more features will be released in the future.
Somiah Singh, a senior at WJPS, said, “I don’t think there is a huge need for parental controls on Instagram, especially since you must be 13 to create an account.”
