With all the stress COVID-19 has been placing on high school and college students, it has caused many to fall into a deep hole of turmoil. Figuring out your future and what you would like to pursue can be nerve-racking and has taken a toll on many high school students in WJPS.
Taking a gap year can be an option, given the pressure that school puts on many students. It only makes sense that students would want a break from school for a bit. Not only does it relieve stress, but it’s a great way to figure out your passions.
With a gap year you are able to pursue other activities like searching for a job, internships, or even saving money before starting college.
WJPS senior Alvin Zeng, said, “If you have the option to take a gap year due to a class being too full, it’s the best opportunity to take it. With a gap year you’re able to receive work experience and incorporate it into college.”
WJPS school aide Mr. Solimando said, “It’s up to the students to decide on the route they want to take. Either way, it’s their life and a great learning experience.”
A gap year brings tons of advantages, but at the end of the day the student should decide their future.
