Field trips are created for students to get information outside the classroom. It directly affects the sense of participation and students can better absorb knowledge.
At most times the trip is a reward for the students, because having a new place to visit is interesting. They can remember the trip from the experience better than in the classroom, but it is hard to execute during the COVID pandemic.
It might be unsafe for students to go on trips, since they would likely disregard social distancing.
WJPS junior, Emily Falsone said, “I think school trips are a reward for students, as you get a free day to hangout with your friends and bond with others. During COVID it was not possible to have such events because of safety reasons.”
“I think school trips are definitely a reward but also a wonderful educational experience. While there are many benefits to school trips, student safety is more important during COVID,” stated Ms. Seidman, a math teacher at WJPS.
School trips have social benefits for those who participate, but it is more important to keep the students safe.
