Lockers are given to WJPS students during their first year of school to lock their personal items and give them a space to store materials that are not needed throughout the whole day.
According to Nemours Children’s Health, putting a heavy weight on the shoulders will cause the weight’s force to pull people backwards, and can develop shoulder, neck, and back pain. Carrying a heavy backpack can also make people more likely to fall when they are off balance.
Students can store their personal devices inside the locker, reducing the damage or the risk of losing them.
Raengel Farmer, a WJPS freshman, said, “I think my locker is great, because it is easier to get to class without carrying my heavy backpack. However, it is difficult to open it, maybe because it is old.”
WJPS sophomore Kelly Lucero, agreed, “I like my locker, because I know my books can get safely in my locker, and it won’t be heavy for me to carry all the books and add up the weight of my backpack.”
