“It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” has played on CBS for years since its premiere, which was about 52 years ago.
Last year, it was announced that the Halloween special would now be exclusively available on online rental and streaming platforms such as Apple TV+, Vudu, and on DVD.
This change not only broke many years of tradition, but reportedly angered many fans of the special.
One fan on Twitter even compared it to getting a rock instead of candy, referencing a part of the special, as reported by Newsweek.
As a result of such backlash, the special has been brought back to live television this year on PBS.
The special played on October 24th and will be followed by two more Charlie Brown specials.
“A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” will be on November 21st and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be December 19th. Both begin at 7:30pm.
Fans of the special have shown their support for this comeback.
“I think the return of the Charlie Brown specials to live tv is great! I will be watching,” said WJPS senior Katherine Pappas.
“I’m happy to see a familiar program on the guide,” said WJPS teacher Ms. Bonanni.
For fans planning on watching the broadcast, have fun!
