Ms. Kontos is an English teacher, mother of four who teaches at WJPS. She completed her undergraduate in English literature at CUNY Hunter College, and is now a graduate student.
Kontos’ family originates from Greece while she was born and raised in New York. This is her first time working in the past 16 years.
This year at WJPS she is teaching many different students in 11th and 12th grade English, as well as in sixth grade English concepts and career seminar.
She stated, “My children motivate me to become a better person and so do my WJPS students. They all keep me on my toes and help me view the world from a different perspective.”
In Kontos’ free time she loves to read books, travel, cook and bake. In the classroom, she stated, her best subjects are English and history.
She said, “The one thing that I look for in my students is for them to try and to have a positive growth mindset. Trying is putting effort into what you do and this is what I expect my students to achieve on a daily basis.”
