The vaccine mandate in PSAL sports is in full swing this year as coaches have taken this rule into effect since sports. Some students say it is a good thing because it is best for everyone to get the vaccine to stop the spread of COVID.
Meanwhile, other people are anti-vax and they don’t like how you still have to wear masks in games even if you’re vaccinated.
Some students are dropping out of PSAL because of the vaccine mandate while others are staying put and taking the vaccine.
George Vlantis, a member of the Francis Lewis Track team who is a WJPS junior, stated, “I feel like students should get vaccinated or if they aren’t vaccinated be tested for COVID every practice.”
Niko Zournatzoglou, a WJPS junior said, ”I personally feel the vaccine mandate for PSAL athletes is justified due to students being susceptible to catching COVID.”
