Before the announcement of the pandemic over a year and a half ago, school staff used to have a Twitter account in order to spread their news through social media.
After students and staff received the news that they would go back to in-person teaching, it was revealed that the teachers and staff of WJPS were no longer allowed to use Twitter using the school WIFI.
This change in spreading news left WJPS students with questions such as “Why are staff no longer allowed to spread news through social media?” or “How will this impact the way we spread news in the future of WJPS?”
WJPS junior George Vlantis said, “Yes, you can do that, but it has to be school appropriate.”
WJPS teacher Ms. Bonanni stated, “I think that social media is a huge part of our daily lives and to pretend like it doesn’t exist while we’re in school is ridiculous.”
Another WJPS teacher, Mr. Tesler said “I think social media is a valuable outlet for schools to spread news. Most people don’t read the information that is sent home to them and this is a great way to get the information out.”
