Cryptocurrencies have had an increase in popularity within the last couple years especially with the increase in price of bitcoin and dogecoin in early 2021.
These E-Currencies have been around for over a decade and this past March, PayPal released it’s crypto checkout service.
PayPals crypto checkout service allows payment for everyday items online using E-currencies, but is limited to Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Ethereum. The thing about these E-currencies is that the price is constantly changing, it’s a global market with the prices constantly fluctuating either positively or negatively.
With PayPals crypto checkout service you will have the ability to buy, hold, and sell these e-currencies. Once in checkout, you are only able to pay with one cryptocurrency at a time.
Giovanni Duran, a WJPS junior, stated, “I think the option for cryptocurrency would be something I’d invest in. The world of cryptocurrency is growing and it’ll be sufficient in the future.”
The process of buying items with cryptocurrency, once in the checkout, allows you to convert it to traditional currencies.
Ameen Afroz, a WJPS junior, stated, “Yeah I’d probably use it towards the future because crypto is becoming a big thing and technology is changing everything.”
