After being closed for over a year, fans are now able to attend the famous park once again after not being able to due to the pandemic. The catch is, the limit is extremely restricted and just California residents are permitted, for now.
Capacity is limited to only 25%, social distancing as well as masks will be required, parades, fireworks, and hugs are banned. The biggest issue of all is deciding whether or not it is safe enough to reopen with the COVID-19 pandemic still being a threat.
At Disney World, the company’s Florida theme park, which reopened last summer, a man was caught and arrested after spitting in a security guard’s face when asked to put on a mask. In addition, returning to work in a pandemic is a big risk to take for the many park workers.
Even with safety precautions, is it possible to make Disneyland “the happiest place on earth” without the fireworks and parades?
Alvin Zeng, a WJPS junior said, “I don’t think the trip is worth it without the parades since it is such a huge part of the experience.”
Another WJPS junior, Somiah Singh said, “It’s probably better to wait until the pandemic is over to start reopening parks like Disneyland.”
