Ever since the pandemic hit, some food businesses have had some trouble adjusting to the new changes that they were forced to make. This caused some to make changes to make things safer and efficient.
The pandemic has also harmed the flow that was present in the drive-thru for some fast food restaurants.
McDonald’s decided to implement an AI (Artificial Intelligence) to take orders in the drive-thru to reduce the amount of workers needed in the restaurant.
This not only solves the initial problem it was originally meant to solve, but also solves issues like people being afraid to speak due to social anxiety and also reduces the amount of wrongly made orders that occured due to poor communication.
WJPS graduate Daniel Ian said, “I think it’s cool, but i personally like the human authenticity of any workplace.”
WJPS senior Julia Aiello said, “I feel like this was necessary as they had already installed digital cashiers, however this could make people lose jobs and could prove difficult to use for people not in touch with technology.”
This new method of ordering is still being tested at some select locations to see if it’s effective or not.
