So, you got the Broadway blues after just about one year without live theater?? Well, no reason to pout, put on a happy face because live streaming has come to the rescue.
Thanks to Playbill’s weekly streaming guide, we can choose from a variety of cool events starring our favorite actors, singers, and dancers. The easy to read guide breaks things down by day and time and is just a click away from pure entertainment.
As Holly Anderson, a senior at WJPS puts it, “I like that playbill.com has a weekly streaming guide since those who want to engage with theatre can do so more easily. Now that I know this exists I want to check it out and see if there are any events that interest me.”
One spectacular event will take place on March 27th is called “Rise Up With Stars” which is a global variety show with performances from the worlds of theater, music, and dance.
Talaura Harms, feature writer for playbill.com states that “this will livestream to raise money for the U.K. Charity Theater Support Fund and The Actors Fund in the US.”
WJPS junior, Katherine Pappas added, “It’s amazing to see so many artists come together. As an artist myself, I feel so incredibly proud to be a part of the community. I see how there are so many ways people can use their talents for the greater good.”
The superb performers have suffered economic, emotional, and personal losses during this pandemic. However, they still are playing their role, singing their hearts out, reciting their lines, and dancing up a storm to keep us entertained through the magic of livestream!
