Since the early days of the pandemic, many people have awaited a vaccine.
New York State is currently in Phase One of distributing the Moderna and Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine. They both require two doses and need to be kept at freezing cold temperatures for them to be viable.
While there are mixed opinions on the vaccine, many people are hopeful that it will help society resume to some form of normalcy.
“The only way that we are going to beat this virus is through the vaccine, so we need to be hopeful that it works,” said WJPS Spanish teacher Mr. Reff.
Correspondingly, WJPS science teacher Ms. Bonanni said, “I have faith in the scientists behind the vaccine, and I trust fully that they know what they’re doing.”
Some people are skeptical about the vaccine because of how rapidly it was developed. Through trial and error, many companies have continued to attempt to create a vaccine. More recently Johnson and Johnson filed for emergency approval of their COVID vaccine.
Additionally Mr. Reff also stated that the vaccine is “showing the true power of where our medicine is today, but only time will tell if that is actually true.” All in all, the effects of the COVID-19 vaccine and continuation of a global pandemic aren’t finished yet.
