Contrary to the eight feet distance between President Donald Trump and former Vice-President Joe Biden during the first Presidential debate; the 2020 vice presidential debate proceeded with 12 feet between the candidates and plexiglass. These added precautions came after the president’s diagnosis and hospitalization with Covid-19.
The roughly 90-minute debate was moderated by USA Today’s Susan Page. Almost everything from the current coronavirus pandemic to climate change and taxes was addressed.
When asked what she thought of the debate WJPS junior Naomi Long said “for the most part I thought the 2020 vice president debate was childish. The debate
reflected that for a nation who claims to be united, that in reality that word doesn’t stand true.”
Furthermore, in response to how the debate reflected on the country, WJPS junior Angelina Loiacono responded with “people have different perspectives” and felt divided over whether or not the purpose of the debate was fulfilled. “I’m in the middle because there was still many unanswered questions,” she said.
It will be up to the American people to determine for themselves, their beliefs of who is best fit for office as the second leader in charge of the country.
