Tom Brady, who was the face of the New England Patriots for their Super Bowl dynasty, is making a change of scenery entering the 2020 season. He has signed a two year $60 million fully guaranteed deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will be leaving New England as a six time Super Bowl Champion and a two time NFL MVP. However, there have been additional reasons for his departure from the Patriots.
Back in 2017, insiders reported that the Patriots traded Jimmy Garapolo to the 49ers for a second round pick, initiating tension between Brady, Robert Kraft and Coach Bill Belichick. This trade occurred due to Brady’s fear of being benched by Belichick and him wanting Jimmy G to be the next quarterback for the Patriots. This made Robert Kraft support Brady, making Belichick furious as he was forced to trade him.
Brady’s departure was also influenced by a contract deal where Belichick and Brady had failed to come up with an extension to keep him in New England, and both sides could not come up with a deal to keep him, allowing him to become a free agent.
