The Women’s History Month assembly took place earlier this month at WJPS leaving many people feeling empowered and recognized.
The town hall opened up with Sawey Hall, WJPS senior singing the song “Scars To Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara.
The video shown during the presentation mentioned the famous quote “if you want something said, ask a man, but if you want something done, ask a woman.”
Zoe Weissman, WJPS junior who played the role of politician Ilhan Omar, said a few words about her struggle in her intention to change the world and how society views women.
Sasha Romero WJPS junior, who played the role of journalist Robin Roberts as well as sang the song Diamonds by Rhianna, said “Women’s History Month is about remembering the contributions of women that have made a significant impact on society. It is an honor of mine to be a part of recognizing the importance of women in history.”
The WJPS step team also performed at the event under the gudiance of Ms. Shields.
There were also posters made and presented during the step team’s routine in significance of Women’s History Month saying “Women Rock!”
