Recently, Apple, the smartphone and computer company, sued Corellium, a virtualization company.
Essentially, Corellium allows the user to access iOS, the software operating system of an iPhone, without actually owning an Apple device.
Apple has claimed that Corellium owes them $300,000, claiming that, “Corellium’s business is based entirely on commercializing the illegal replication of the copyrighted operating system and applications that run on Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices.”
On the other side, Corellium claimed that its software helps Apple because it makes it easier for security researchers to find bugs and issues in the iOS software.
WJPS sophomore Alex Argyros, said, “I think that it was stupid for Corellium to just blatently copy Apple. I use Apple phones and like the company a lot, and I hope this lawsuit gets them a lot of money because Corellium deserves it.”
WJPS freshman student, Thomas Aiello, said, “I think Corellium is really stupid for doing what they did. Like, you can go online and try it out for yourself, you just get iOS without an iPhone. Corellium should give Apple all the money that they have earned from selling Apple’s products.”
