The Internet is a major advancement made in history, however, people online have created multiple kinds of threats to get personal information. A major threat on the internet is DDOS.
If you have WIFI, you have an IP address which is a series of numbers used to recognize and connect you to other systems. This address could be traced to your nearest internet service provider. In the wrong hands, it could result in a DDOS.
DDOS, Distributed Denial of Service, is when someone gets your IP address and floods your router with Internet traffic overflowing it, until it crashes and stops working.
To prevent being DDOSed, you can check websites by copying and pasting the link into a URL redirection checker.
If you visit untrusted websites, you can use a VPN, a Virtual Private Network. It allows you to go under a different IP address making it difficult to track your information. VPNs can be available for free. They don’t make attacks impossible, but it does lessen the chances of one happening.
