MLB Opening Day is the start of the year for baseball fans. Both the New York Mets and New York Yankees have high expectations entering the 2019 season. The Mets are looking at a rebound season and a trip back to the postseason for the first time in almost three years.
These high expectations for the Mets are the result of the offseason. The Mets begin their season with their first six games on the road, taking on division rivals, Washington Nationals, who now begin their endeavors without their star outfielder, Bryce Harper, who signed with the rival Phillies on a new max contract and the rebuilding Miami Marlins. Interleague games will be against the American League of Professional Baseball Club and the yearly Subway Series against the Yankees.
For the Yankees, the quest for their 28th World Series title begins with expectations higher than last season’s. The team entered 2019 as one of the high favorites to win the World Series. The Yankees begin a six game homestand that begins against their division rival Baltimore Orioles and then the Detroit Tigers.
