John Capparelli, a 70 year old ex-priest, was found dead in his apartment in Las Vega, Nevada on Tuesday, March 12. He has been living there since 2016.
According to The Washington Post, Capparelli had sexual abuse accusations against him by at least “two dozen men.”
It was alleged that Capparelli forced men to wrestle in swimsuits while he photographed them. Capparelli was suspended from his church in 1992.
Capparelli’s reputation followed him for years. In February, a list of 188 men who had been “credibly accused” of child abuse was released, and Capparelli was on that list.
One of his victims, Rich Fitter was interviewed by The Washington Post, and said “The world is a safer place without him. Whatever led to his death, it’s a certain amount of karma.”
“The murder of the former priest, John Capparelli, is shocking and sad,” Robert Hoatson said to The Washington Post.
There still hasn’t been any information released on who his killer was or what their motives were.
