Despite the fact that their star player spent most of the game on the bench, Point Guard for the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose still managed to contribute to the destruction of the New York Knicks.
Six players on the Bulls scored in double figures last night against New York. The final score was104 – 80 with Chicago embarrassing the Knicks in their home opener.
“I expected New York to have a slow start with a loss to the Bulls because of the new adjustments they made over the summer. What I didn’t expect was Chicago to decimate them the way they did,” sophomore Renee Choong said.
Power Forward Taj Gibson was the leading scorer of Chicago, scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. In addition, in his first game as a Bull, Power Forward Pau Gasol had a “double-double”, racking up 11 rebounds and scoring 21 points.
New York’s franchise player, Small Forward Carmelo Anthony only scored 14 points, as he was heavily defended by the Bulls’ Small Forward Mike Dunleavy Jr.
“Embarrassed? No, I am not embarrassed. We will get better. I believe that. I know that and we have another shot at it tomorrow night,” Carmelo Anthony said.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Knicks as they have to put this loss behind them and focus on their new challenge, defeating Small Forward Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Unlike their encounter with Chicago, New York will not have the home advantage.
New York vs Cleveland is expected to be a huge sporting event because it will be LeBron James’ first game being apart of the Cavaliers since his departure back in 2010. The game will be on ESPN Thursday at 8:00.
