The school held its 5th annual Poetry Slam. It took place at McGoldrick Library on Friday, April 8th. Teachers and students attended the show to support their peers.

Many former and new poets performed this year.

“This year there was a bigger turnout, which made me pleasantly surprised. I had a lot of fun performing with my partner (Amina Chowdhury). The theme was extremely relatable and interesting to write about. I can’t wait for next year,” junior Kailey Bosyk said.

The theme this year was “fear”. Many people interpreted the theme “fear” in different and creative ways. The poets were able to express themselves through spoken word poetry. This helped them to talk about their feelings in ways that they might not normally use.

“This is my third time participating in the poetry slam. Overall, I believe that it was better than last years’, as the theme ‘fear’ seemed more interesting to me. The performances were amazing, and it was such a wonderful opportunity,” junior Amina Chowdhury said.

The slam had a very big turnout and was very successful.
