WJPS meets Clinton

Clinton supporters joined together in St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church to hear from Brooklyn’s council representative, Yvette Clarke and President Bill Clinton. Broadcast students from the school were there to record the conference and interview some of the reporters.

As soon as the crowd entered the church, they were taken to the basement of the church until the main floor was ready for the guests. It took a couple of minutes to get the crowd upstairs, but once everyone was seated the conference didn’t begin as scheduled, it was about an hour late. Supporters were still shown footage of Clinton Campaign commercials to pass the time.

The wait didn’t bother some people, for one of the supporters, the presence of Bill Clinton was enough. “I wanted to show her and him my… contribution,” Clinton Supporter Sonoki Egi said.

Once the event began supporters were welcomed by a member of the church and then introduced to the Brooklyn Council Representative. She shared her support for candidate Hillary Clinton to the church and introduced President Clinton after her speech.

“It was so important that, I think, our community have an opportunity to hear from President Bill Clinton about the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign here in New York,” Brooklyn’s council representative Yvette Clarke said.

Once Clinton arrived he spoke about the environment, education opportunities, and even about unemployment. But most of all why he thought his wife stood out from the rest.

“She’s more of a responsibility candidate than a blame candidate,” Clinton said in the speech.

As soon as he finished he waved to the crowd and left. Some stood to have the opportunity to speak with the Brooklyn Council Representative.

Even after the event was over supporters cheered and continued to communicate about their support to others.
“Hillary Clinton has the experience, she has the vision for all people,” Clinton Supporter Patricia Jordon-Langford said.
