Select juniors and their parents were invited to attend a dinner, that was organized by the PTA, to celebrate their achievements. This dinner took place on Tuesday, May 2nd at 7:00 PM in the school library.

“I liked the thought behind it. We got free food and it made me feel smart,“ junior Ashley Luttrell said.

Juniors that were selected had to meet the college readiness standards, such as scoring an 80 or higher on a NYC math regent, having 90% school attendance, and getting a satisfactory grade on the PSATs.

A buffet with various Chinese foods, sushi, and desserts were offered. During dinner, Ms. Schneider gave a congratulatory speech to the junior class and their parents, recognizing all the hard work they have done.

“It could influence the junior class if there were more announcements made and explanations on what college readiness means and what it does,” assistant principal Ms. Cuesta said.

As night fell, parents and teachers had conversations while students talked amongst themselves.
