They Have No Idea

Written in the perspective of a young something.

My kind is big
They say I’m little
But I think
I’m in the middle.

I love adventure
I love to smile
But I’m here
For quite a while.

I’m trapped…
But happily
‘Cause I can look
And I can see

All the kids
Who gaze at me
I talk to them
I shout with glee!

My small yelps bounce
Right back to me
While they wonder
How my voice could be.

And the adults
Who study us
Wonder what
My skin tone was.

Am I green
Like luscious trees
Low enough
To grab their leaves?

Am I brown
Like sturdy bark
So they can’t see
