The Copa America is looming around the corner; this one will be more than special. The Copa America will be celebrating its 200th year anniversary with style, hosted for the first time in the United States

Much like the Euro Cup, the Copa America is a famous tournament that only incorporates South American countries with some surprise guests like Mexico and Jamaica from time to time. But for the first time ever the tournament will be hosted on United States soil, and finally involve North American countries such as the United States, Costa Rica and Haiti. The first game will be played at Santa Clara California in Levi’s stadium. The opening game will feature USA vs Colombia on June 3.

“Im very excited, that such a popular event on the South American Continent has finally reached the states. Bringing some of the greats with it. Hopefully with this event, the sport can finally get more popular. I hope the United States will take it, even though being their first time in the tournament” said Jonah Sampedro, Senior
